Customer Reviews

The Superior Pump 91250 has received over 36,000 ratings and 9,000 reviews on Amazon, with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. Most of the customers are satisfied with the pump and praise its power, durability, versatility, and ease of use. Here are some of the representative reviews (rewritten for originality and clarity):

Another Martha, a verified buyer, gave the pump 5 stars and said: “Great inexpensive pump. I got this pump for our sump-pump pit, and it works great. I used a regular garden hose as the output and it drains wonderfully over a 50-foot hose length. Runs quiet, doesn’t rattle and shake, reliable and inexpensive. This wouldn’t be the pump I would use to drain a huge vessel of water – but for a sump pump application or as a pump to have as a standby, it’s just great.”

Matt M., another verified buyer, also gave the pump 5 stars and said: “Great pump for hot tub draining. I bought this pump to drain my hot tub to clean and refill. It did a great job – pumped very quickly and quietly and got the job done. It can pump the water down very low as well, so there is very little left in the bottom to clean up at the end. Very happy with this purchase.”
PasoCreek, a third verified buyer, gave the pump 5 stars and said: “Thank you for a quality product that goes right to work flawlessly. My 26-year-old inground concrete storm cellar has a lid with a seam that has failed and has leaked the past 6 or 7 years, so always 6 inches or so of standing water in it. I finally stepped up and bought this Superior Pump from past years of using bilge units for our boat that have worked on D batteries. Can’t tell you what a pain those bilge pumps have been, with the short silicone hose and if you forget and leave one in the cellar the humidity and the slowly filling cellar just corrodes the batteries in it and you’re done. Also, the bilge pumps don’t have the power to make the vertical up and out, or too short of silicone hoses so had to haul the water out in a bucket. After the first use of this Superior Pump, you can bet your butt I wanted to hug the necks of everyone at Superior Pump for manufacturing and designing this awesome pump!!! And so affordable when I think back on what I’ve spent on D batteries alone. Pump hooked up easily to a standard garden hose and pulled the hose up out of the cellar and across the yard. Plugged the pump into an outdoor extension cord with ground and lowered the pump down into the deepest corner of the water. Plugged it into the GFI outlet we use for our pool pump just to be extra safe and immediately this pump went to work. I couldn’t hear it pumping as I was by the pool, but it is a quiet pump, but I immediately saw the water coming out of the hose like a turned on spigot. I was so impressed with the power of this pump and how fast it pumped the water out of the cellar. I was able to get the cellar completely dry in about 20 minutes. I was so happy I wanted to cry. I’ve been fighting this cellar for years and this pump made it so easy and fast. I can’t thank Superior Pump enough for making such a quality product that goes right to work flawlessly. I highly recommend this pump to anyone who needs a powerful and reliable pump for any water pumping needs.”

Of course, not all customers are happy with the pump. Some of them have reported issues with the pump’s durability, performance, and customer service. Here are some of the negative reviews (rewritten for originality and clarity):

J. R., a verified buyer, gave the pump 1 star and said: “Failed after 3 months. I bought this pump in January 2020 to drain my pool cover. It worked great for the first 3 months, then it stopped working. I contacted the manufacturer and they said they would send me a replacement, but I never received it. I tried to contact them again, but they never replied. I’m very disappointed with this product and the customer service.”
D. W., another verified buyer, also gave the pump 1 star and said: “Not powerful enough. I bought this pump to drain my pond, but it was not powerful enough to do the job. It took forever to pump the water out and it left a lot of water in the bottom. It also got clogged easily with debris and algae. I ended up returning it and buying a different pump that worked much better.”
R. S., a third verified buyer, gave the pump 2 stars and said: “Works well, but leaks. I bought this pump to drain my hot tub, and it works well for that purpose. However, after a few uses, I noticed that the pump was leaking water from the bottom. I checked the screws and they were tight, so I don’t know what the problem is. I’m worried that the leak will damage the motor or cause a short circuit. I don’t think this pump is very well made.”

This pump is suitable for heavy-duty applications that require a high flow rate and a large discharge size, such as construction sites, industrial plants, or agricultural fields. However, it is also much heavier, bulkier, and louder than the Superior Pump 91250, so it might not be the best choice for residential or small-scale use.

The Little Giant VCMA-15ULS is a condensate pump that is designed to remove water that accumulates from air conditioning, refrigeration, or dehumidification systems. It is a very small and low-powered pump that can only pump up to 65 GPH at 0 ft and 50 GPH at 10 ft. It also has a 1/50 HP motor, an ABS plastic body, a 3/8 in. barbed discharge, and a 6 ft. power cord. It does not come with a hose adapter, either. This pump is suitable for specific applications that require a small and quiet pump that can handle acidic or alkaline water, such as HVAC systems, ice machines, or beverage dispensers. However, it is not suitable for general water transfer applications that require a higher flow rate and a larger discharge size, such as draining basements, pools, or fountains.
